Is it necessary to state that I despise doing laundry? Laundry is literally the worst chore ever. Nothing, not even my lovely laundry room, can change my mind. It was my sincere attempt! Stripping out stubborn oil stains used to be my least favorite aspect of doing laundry. No matter how many times I washed my husband’s clothes with various sprays and stain sticks, the grease stains would persist. At last, a remedy was suggested by a friend of my mom’s… My goodness, that produced the desired result!

I seldom write about housekeeping on the blog, but I felt compelled to write this time since I was so relieved to have found a solution that finally made my laundry problems go away! There are affiliate links in this post.

Every shirt my spouse has ends up with grease stains, and I have no idea where they come from! Many readers have speculated that they may originate from dryer sheets or fabric softener. Since I don’t use it, it can’t be blamed. However, you may want to pay attention to this if you experience these areas.

His polo shirts were becoming out of style, and I was at a loss as to what to do about it. Doing laundry made me want to rip my hair out.

A friend of my mom’s suggested Dawn Platinum Erasing Dish Foam. She mentioned that it worked just as well on washing as it did on dishes, thanks to its grease-absorbing properties. I decided to give it a go after hearing that it worked for my mom. I made my initial purchases from Target, but since then, I’ve had more luck finding it elsewhere; they don’t always have it in stock. In its place, I’m considering making an Amazon purchase for the refill bottles.

A small amount of this pump-on soap makes a lot of foam. Apply a tiny quantity to the grease marks one by one.

Make sure to cover the whole soiled area by rubbing the dish soap into the cloth with your fingertips.

Prior to washing, let the Dawn Platinum Erasing Dish Foam to remain on the garments for about five minutes.

Wash the garments according to the manufacturer’s instructions using your regular detergent. Whenever I wash my clothing, I use Tide Coldwater Clean and cold water.

Apply another application of Dawn erasing foam if the grease or oil stain remains. Although I have had to wash a few of stains twice or thrice due to their stubbornness, the vast majority of stains disappear after a single treatment, regardless of how many times the affected garment has been cleaned and dried.

Cotton, poly, and denim are the only materials I’ve tested this on. I suggest doing a tiny, hidden area test with the Dawn erasing foam before applying it to a more delicate fabric stain.

It’s a huge relief to have discovered an effective method for eliminating oil and grease stains! Even though I endured one less annoyance, I still despise washing laundry.
